yesterday i spent the afternoon at the de young with some friends. i was waiting for the david hockney exhibit for a couple of months so i was really excited to check it out. it was amazing! seriously, i was smiling the whole time. as a matter of fact, i think i’m going to have to check it out a second time before the exhibition ends in january. going to museums is a favorite pastime of mine. therefore, i finally took advantage of the teacher discount and got a membership to the de young and the legion of honor. now i can go as often as i want and special exhibits will not cost nearly as much. also, i figure when i start graduate school (still applying… stressful)  i can study at the cafe and then walk around the museum afterwards. win/win.

i thought this graphic rainbow colored painting was the perfect backdrop for an outfit shot. ah, i wish i could hang it in my apartment. anyway, i’m off today so it’s time to take advantage of the weather and go for a hike. tata!

hey everyone! since the year is coming to a close i thought i would go right ahead and copy all the other bloggers that created an end of the year round-up post! so these are some of my favorite outfits and posts from 2012. writing this blog (now a year old!) has been fun and i’m looking forward to sharing more outfits, food, and adventures in the new year. have a happy and safe new year! xo

american girl.

skirt and shirt: american apparel

shoes: salvatore ferragamo vara flats

denim jacket: old navy

headband: banana republic factory (also here)

bag:   vintage coach city bag

sunglasses: ray ban wayfarer

i love-love-love american apparel for basics! their clothes are so soft and pair well with just about anything. i have also developed an obsession with ferragamo’s, specifically the varas. they are so pretty and feminine. and they too wear well with everything in my closet- shorts, dresses, skirts, you name it. i adore them!

see other outfits featuring ferragamo’s here, here, and here!
