palm springs.

i had the BEST time last weekend celebrating my birthday with my dear friend lerrie and a bunch of new friends. they were all so awesome and we had so much fun together. the only one missing was our best friend chime. lerrie and i really missed her.

we stayed at the ace hotel (thanks to kenneth!) and spent most of our time hanging out by the pool. it was really relaxing and the people were amazing: smart, stylish, interesting, and super fun. i really wanted to have a wonderful birthday and it happened through this trip. this year has been a major transitional period in my life and i have grown a ton, which is great. but sometimes growing is hard and i just needed a vacation from it all. i needed a change of scenery, if only for a couple of days.  it was nice to leave everything behind, meet new people, and let loose in palm springs for the weekend. we kept saying “what happens in palm springs stays in palm springs.” but that wasn’t really the case considering we all blew up instagram like it was going out of style.

this trip really was the perfect way to ring in 32!

yesterday was so much fun! anne, rachel, amy, and i spent the better part of the afternoon in dolores park eating snacks and drinking wine. it was the perfect way to kick off summer. i can’t wait to go on some trips with my gals. we’re all excited about summer and the positive changes headed our way. so naturally, we had a mini celebration in the park. cheers to friendship and new beginnings.

eternally striped.

i know you might be thinking “enough with the stripes already, girl!” but i can’t help it… i have a sea of stripes in my closet and i love them all.  i decided to take a spring/summer dress and remix it for the sunny yet chilly weather. all the dress needed was a bright sweater and my favorite grey tights and i was on my way. get ready to see more remixing on the blog. brian and i are going to nyc in march and i would like to stop (or majorly cut back) on shopping so that i can do some there. can’t wait for that! tons of beautiful clothes and fashionable new yorkers… sign me up!

beach baby.

today was such a lovely day! the weather was so nice that brian and i headed out to the beach where we walked around, grabbed lunch, and snapped some photos. it’s so awesome that we were able to dress so lightly and go to the beach in the middle of winter. i sure do love california “winters”.

this weekend was really relaxing which is exactly the way i like it. friday night brian and i went on a date to gracias madre for dinner and then caught up on crap tv (a favorite pass time of mine when i’m absolutely exhausted and just want to zone out). then, saturday night we had friends over for dinner (pasta, dill and roasted garlic white bean dip and veggies, rosemary focaccia, and a yummy salad) and a movie. aside from heading to the beach and hanging around the apartment, i also ran seven miles and got some “spring” cleaning done. all in all, this weekend was the perfect balance of relaxation and productivity!

downtown girls.

ski lodge

this outfit makes me feel like i should be sitting in a ski lodge somewhere sipping on hot coco. but since i’m not headed to a ski lodge any time soon i wore this downtown. i really like the combination of stripes and chevron. about the chevron scarf… i bought it over ten years ago on super sale at j.crew. it’s practically vintage, or will be soon enough! my vacation has been so relaxing. i’ve been hanging out in the apartment (possibly verging on hermit status) watching music documentaries on joy division, the smiths, and the “importance of being morrissey” (brian asked me if that was really the name of the documentary. haha! freakin’ morrissey). so yeah i’m a real snore these days unless it comes to eating and watching documentaries on brit bands. then i’m glad to make some food and obsess over cute brit boys (i.e. ian curtis).  i’ve actually been cooking quite a bit and its been nice to have a couple of friends over to eat some home cooked meals.

however, i did get out of the apartment today to do some shopping downtown with anne. the parking lot was so packed that we had to park on the top floor of the parking structure, but it was pretty awesome because we got to snap some cool photos. anne took the outfit photos of yours truly and i took the rest (her outfit is so cute!). i love taking out my little point and shoot out and about! it’s so convenient and i can capture moments in the sky like these. happy new year! DSCN3927

on holiday.

super old forever 21 dress  // madewell tights // vintage salvatore ferragamo shoes // j.crew classic link necklace (gift from dave + david) and bracelet (gift from anne)

last night we had our little christmas party and we all had such a wonderful time! it was a cozy get together filled with yummy food (including this soup), christmas tunes (a whole lotta wham), wine, cocktails, and gifts. i have to admit that over the years i’ve become much more festive. so i already knew a couple of weeks back what i wanted to wear for our holiday party, which was this feminine lace dress, red tights, and ferragamos. but what i didn’t know was that i would have the perfect necklace to wear with it. my friends dave and david are so sweet! they gave me the necklace before the party started so i could be the hostess with the mostess.

well i don’t know about you but i procrastinated and therefore i will be out getting some last minute shopping done on christmas eve. it’s going to be insane but that’s okay… it’s that time of year. typically i lose my shit in crowded chaotic situations (i.e. get overwhelmed/anxious and then go home). but i’m really going to try to bring some of that festive spirit and holiday cheer (or tolerance) instead of a meltdown. after all, i really should have finished shopping much sooner. haha! my mission is to make the last of the shopping as quick and easy as possible. if you’re also a procrastinator, good luck out there. merry christmas eve!

hey! hey! hey! well i officially completed my cleanse on sunday morning and i honestly couldn’t feel better. the first day was the toughest and after that it got much easier. the biggest lesson i’ve learned is that i need to be more cognizant of what i put into my body. now that i’ve completed the cleanse i just want to eat healthier and keep juicing. watch out i might turn into a juicing nerd. i’m super into it!

anyway, brian and i went to the store early sunday morning to grab more produce and we snapped these iphone photos just for fun. it was raining like crazy all weekend so we weren’t out and about too much. i love the rain! it’s so nice bundling up, listening to records, and having an excuse to just hangout at home.
