I just finished my first semester of graduate school (so happy about that!). After a super intense semester I needed a little getaway. So my friend Adri and I took a girls mini-vacation to Palm Springs… one of the best places to just lay by a pool and relax. I’ll admit I have a slight obsession with Palm Springs and the ACE. I feel like I’m experiencing the 1960’s, haha. It’s so laid back, much slower than SF. A girls trip was exactly what we needed. I wished we could have stayed longer and I’m already thinking about when I can go back. Perhaps, a birthday trip will be in order? Anyway, now it’s time to get back to San Francisco. It will be nice getting back to the city. Coming home is always nice. ❤
work has been beyond hectic lately and after spending most of my weekend writing and revising essays for my graduate school applications, i am definitely ready for a break. but i wanted to make sure i was satisfied with my personal statement and essay questions before leaving so that i can really relax. mission accomplished. it will be so nice to hop on a plane tomorrow morning and head out to socal to visit my family. i’m excited about spending thanksgiving with them and eating all of the awesome food my mom prepares. have a happy thanksgiving! i know i will. xo

i had the BEST time last weekend celebrating my birthday with my dear friend lerrie and a bunch of new friends. they were all so awesome and we had so much fun together. the only one missing was our best friend chime. lerrie and i really missed her.
we stayed at the ace hotel (thanks to kenneth!) and spent most of our time hanging out by the pool. it was really relaxing and the people were amazing: smart, stylish, interesting, and super fun. i really wanted to have a wonderful birthday and it happened through this trip. this year has been a major transitional period in my life and i have grown a ton, which is great. but sometimes growing is hard and i just needed a vacation from it all. i needed a change of scenery, if only for a couple of days. it was nice to leave everything behind, meet new people, and let loose in palm springs for the weekend. we kept saying “what happens in palm springs stays in palm springs.” but that wasn’t really the case considering we all blew up instagram like it was going out of style.
this trip really was the perfect way to ring in 32!
as i mentioned in this post i was in guerneville last weekend for a wedding. we all stayed at the riverlane resort where we spent our days lounging around the pool, barbecuing, and sipping cocktails. it was so nice getting out of the city. i need to remind myself to get out of the city more often. there are so many awesome places to go within a couple hours of san francisco that i have yet to explore. seriously i’ve been talking about going camping for months and i just never seem to get it together. maybe i’m more of a “camping” in a cabin kind of a girl. according to my friend david, we were camping (haha, we weren’t exactly roughing it). close enough for now, but a trip to big sur needs to happen in the near future. i really want to check out the henry miller memorial library, especially after reading big sur and the oranges of hieronymus bosch.
anyway since i taught summer school i didn’t really get a vacation, so relaxing at the river for a few days was perfect. AND i have another mini vacation coming up! this friday is my birthday and i’m flying to la to spend the day with my mom before heading to palm springs with friends. woo-hoo! i’m so ready.
wow this is the first outfit post that has gone up in a really long time. i’m gonna have to do something about that! i’ve decided i’m going to try to be less lazy about it. that will require me to wear something other than overalls (it’s gotten a bit out of hand), bust out my tripod, and/or annoy my friends by asking them to snap the photos (thanks for taking these rachel and amy). anyway, i found this dress while digging through the clearance section at target one summer afternoon. but given the fact that it’s generally cold in sf during the summer i couldn’t really wear it until recently. i decided it would be the perfect dress for ryan and eddie’s wedding (congrats, boys!). they had the coolest wedding at the russian river. a bunch of us stayed a few days and made a vacation out of it. we all really needed it. ah, i can’t wait to go back.
my days spent at chime and zuhair’s house were full of relaxation, tasty cocktails, laughter, food and more food (figs from the backyard, artisan cheeses, freshly baked kale chips, homemade ice cream, freshly baked bread… all courtesy of my lovely chime), and me wearing pajamas all day! nothing says vacation like wearing pjs all day. now that i’m back to long days at work- those which have seemed endless as of late, i can’t help but reminisce about my vacation days that seem like such a long time ago. i’m left wishing i could go back to watching trash tv, eating homemade earl grey ice cream and blueberry tarts, and enjoying the company of two that i see far too little of. let’s just say my next vacation can’t come soon enough!
p.s. while staying with chime and zu, i was introduced to goat cheese stuffed dates. BEST THINGS EVER!

good morning! i thought i’d share this outfit post before i get on a plane headed for long beach. anne and i had such a wonderful time in mexico enjoying the ocean, swimming in the pools, and taking in the views from our balcony! it was really hot, so wearing loose-fitting clothes like this crocheted summer dress was the best solution for the weather. i can’t wait for the next vacation. i’m thinking nyc!
